Sustainable Action for Resilience and Food Security (SABAL)
Sabal is being implemented by Save the Children together with its partners in close coordination with the Government of Nepal. The long term goal of SABAL is "targeted populations in the eleven districts of Central and Eastern hills of Nepal are more resilient and food secure".
Three program purposes form the programs overarching goal:
- Livelihoods strengthened and diversified.
- Improve health and nutrition status of pregnant and lactating women, children under five and their families
- Strengthen the ability of households and communities to mitigate, adapt to, and recover from shocks and stressors.
LI-BIRD is Sabal's partner for Purpose 1 and is responsible for implementation of agriculture and livestock interventions in selected VDCs of six districts (Makawanpur, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Udayapur, Okhaldhunga and Khotang). Sabal agricultural activities aim at increasing smallholders' farm production, enhance smallholders' capacity to use and manage natural resources and help expand improved practices.
